Kim Gattuso is asking the questions:

“That's a lot of space in there. Alright tell me the problem with this previously installed sump pump.”

“This is- there's no drainage to the sump. If you get water in your system no water is going to get into the sump so it isn't going to pump it out. Reason is because they use their "tracking" for the waterproofing system and they did not connect it to their system.”

“So do you think that was maybe in the corner where it's all broken- that piece is broken- do you think maybe that's where it was and because it's a cheaper system that that's what happened? Or it just was thrown in there to hope the water gets to the pump?”

“That could be a possibility or they could have probably just thrown it in there just to make it seem like it'll work and fix the problem.”

“Can you show me the corner?”

“Yes.”

“With the broken product? And there's weep holes
on the side of that correct?”

“Yes. The back and the front.”

“But it's broken?”

“Yes.”

“Was that from your jackhammer or was that because it's a mess?”

“Because it's a mess.”

“Inferior product.”

“As you can see it's not even connected to the other side. There's no tape, no nothing.”

“Well even with the stone bed that they put in there, wouldn't the water get to the sump pump?”

“Yeah but there's really not that much stone in there to... Can I see that again please? No stone in there. On either side or just right there?”

“Other side- nothing.”

“Oh wow.”

“Yeah, I can like probably, if my arm was long enough, I could probably go around.”

“So tell me about why the bottom of this wall is so broken up?”

“Because they did not drill weep holes in the block so the block probably stayed filled up with water over time and it just probably started disintegrating.”

“Are those corners attached or they just one?”

“I think they just cut it- see they just cut it and- so anything can get in there and it can clog the system. See I can stick my fingers in there. As you can see there's a lot of silt in there. So it's a no-no.”

“That's not how we do it at Dry Guys. That's for sure. Tell me why that block is- how far up can you reach under that block? And do you think that that was on purpose or do you think that's disintegration?”

“Just the disintegration it looks like. And that goes all the way around the entire perimeter.”

“Yes.”

“But you can see some spots maybe we hit it with the jackhammer. Like right there they might have hit it with the jackhammer.”

“What's your opinion on the homeowner did she get beat the first time?”

“Oh yeah she definitely got beat. Bad system.”

“The corner looks so bad. So with that open disintegration against the block all that dirt is coming in, is there any kind of filter fabric on the side of the system where they have the holes in the bottom of it?”

“No there's nothing it's just wide open holes. So all that dirt's going right into that system?”

“Yes.”

“What I'd like to show is the mold- this is the basement insulation. This is all around the entire thing. The black is all mold.”
