In the mid 80’s Dan had a normal union job and on the side was rehabbing houses to flip. It was a nice setup, but eventually it was hard to work the normal job. Neighbors near the rehabs would see his work and ask if he would do the same for their houses, so he decided in 1984 to go into business for himself. His goal was to learn as much as possible. What he soon realized after a few manufacturer seminars was that contractors just did what the guy in front of them taught, EVEN if it wasn’t what the manufacturer had in mind! He had to set himself apart from the “Pete in the pickup” and “Chuck in the truck” contractors.
In the early 90’s he associated himself with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). They are based on continuing education and making better contractors and businessmen. In 1994 he earned his National Certification and could proudly display “CR” (Certified Remodeler) after his name. During that same time he learned it was better to specialize in areas he enjoyed working in rather than to try and master everything. So his company concentrated on basement finishing (including waterproofing) and sun rooms. The sun room fad soon died out, and waterproofing became his focus.
Now the question was, “How can we be head and shoulders above the rest?” More education! That’s when his association with Basement Systems opened up a whole new world. Basement Systems is a network of 320 dealers in 5 nations, all with the same desire to be the best. They learn from each other and encourage one another, and Dan can't be more proud than to be a part of the Basement Systems Network- the industry leader with 28 patents. They are truly Basement Environmental Specialists!
So while “Chuck & Pete” argue as to whose pipe in the mud is better, Dry Guys can offer its clients 8 different proven systems based on what their foundation type requires. Dan's favorite quote is “If all you sell is hammers, EVERYTHING looks like a nail.” It means that if all the competition sells is a french drain or a single type of waterproofing solution, they don’t think outside the box when it comes to the homeowner's situation.
Dan's family, which includes his wife and 5 children, have been involved from the very beginning. Now the next generation is preparing to take the reigns. Knowing all the support Dry Guys gets from Basement Systems, that transition will be much easier! He looks forward to seeing them excel in keeping families like yours dry and healthy!

This SuperSump Sump Pump System is due for its annual maintenance. Our service technician, Bryan, fully inspected the pumping system to ensure it is performing at optimal performance. This included annual maintenance on the customers' SaniDry Dehumidifer and Air Purifier, and everything was left looking clean and tidy!
This basement in Pennsville New Jersey has issues keeping up with the water coming into the basement. The home already had two sump pumps installed and the owner was looming to get a third. When our System Designer arrived, he discovered that the pumps had been filled with iron ochre ( an orange slime that naturally occurs as a waste by-product in iron bacteria) It was clear that more pumping power wasn't needed, but a system that could handle the gelatinous problem would need to be installed. A combination of our WaterGuard Perimeter System and replacing one of the pumps with our TripleSafe Sump Pump System to correct the issue. Our WaterGuard drainage system features inspection ports that make it easy to maintain and prevent clogging while our TribleSafe has two powerful pumps to keep the basement dry all the time.
This business in Salem, NJ, suffered from a major seepage issue in the basement of their office due to water pooling, but not being able to reach the sump pump. Before they called the Dry Guys team, this water issue had caused major damage to their valuable electronics and forced time loss to their company. After installing our WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage System and a SuperSump sump pump system, this business now stays dry and has returned back to normal working order. Don’t let this happen to you! Call Dry Guys, we CAN help!
This home in Margate City, New Jersey, was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and flooded the homeowner's crawl space. This caused a spike in their humidity levels creating an environment for mold and pest infestations to thrive. Upstairs, there were strange, nasty smells that weren't there before and the homeowners noticed more pests than usual coming from drains and vents. They decided to call an exterminator to take care of their problem but when he arrived, he realized that these pests would return until the humidity issue was resolved. At that point, he referred the homeowners to Dry Guys in order to stop these issues from continuing. We arrived quickly to seal the crawl space by installing our patented SilverGlo Foam Insulation which is engineered specifically for crawl spaces. It has graphite infused into the foam, providing superior insulation value over standard fiberglass. It's closed cell design means it will not soak up moisture, keeping humidity levels low! The first phase begins with our patented CleanSpace Drainage Matting which is a dimpled polyester sheet that creates a space for water to flow down which is then discharged by the sump pump. These products will make their crawl space more energy efficient, their floors warmer, and conveniently lower the energy cost! The next phase is to install our patented CleanSpace liner and our SaniDry to complete the system.
After cutting out these old, clogged and dirty vents, Dry Guys installed SmartVents in their place. SmartVents are unique because when flood waters come, they open. This allows the water to flow through easily without smashing into your foundation walls and making them collapse under pressure.
Another company attempted to waterproof this basement in Monroeville, New Jersey. The two pumps that they installed couldn't adequately drain, so water would continue to come up through the floor crack (as seen in picture 1). The Dry Guys Team was called and came to the conclusion that a redesign was required in order to successfully waterproof this basement. Our patented WaterGuard Perimiter Drainage System was installed to direct any flooding water to the sump station and we epoxied the offending crack. We then installed our TripleSafe Sump System to pump out the water being directed in. This sump station can handle 6500 gallons per hour and includes a backup system that attaches to your home alarm system for your peace of mind. The powerful power pack can pump up to 12,000 gallons on a full charge, that is the equivalent of an above ground pool!
We removed this homeowner's previous pump in Monroeville, New Jersey, due to its inefficiency and replaced it with our Triplesafe Sump Pump System. The TripleSafe is one of our most reliable pumps. Built with three motors, a 1/3hp motor for regular day to day functioning, a more powerful 1/2hp motor capable of discharging 3,900 gallons of water per hour, and a battery backup pump ready to turn on in the event of a power outage. Our TripleSafe also includes a WaterWatch alarm, turning the pump on if the water-level gets too high and an airtight lid lowering the humidity levels surpassing the old pump in both efficiency and reliability!

This home built in Pitman, New Jersey, suffered seepage problems from cracks in the foundation caused by pressure due to soil expansion. With the installation of the PowerBrace Wall Repair System, the walls are now secured and potentially will straighten over time. These steel I-beams will keep the walls from moving further and return them to their original position.
The builder used an oversized sill plate that could not be reduced in size, obstructing the PowerBrace install. In over 30 years of service, this was not new to Dry Guys. We have products that can adapt to these kinds of problems without major intrusion to the foundation.

This homeowner in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, noticed an issue with their wall where it actually began to move inward toward the basement. Knowing that this was a serious problem, they called Dry Guys and had an experienced system designer come out to assess the situation. Our designer gave this homeowner several options for repair. Bowing walls are typically caused by hydrostatic pressure and frost heave. As water saturates the soil around the foundation, that absorbed moisture is then pushing against the wall due to the force of gravity. When you go swimming and dive down deeper and deeper, you can feel the water pressing against you, the same concept is applied to bowing walls. The deeper the wall, the pressure that pushes against it increases. The best solution for this homeowner was our patented product called Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System. Our Wall Anchors are designed with hardened galvanized steel and are embedded into the soil out away from the foundation wall to use the earth to stabilize the bowing wall. These steel plates will permanently stop the inward wall movement and with annual servicing, it even has the potential to return the wall back to its original position. With the help from Dry Guys, this homeowner no longer needs to worry about their wall collapsing!
This pump which was installed by a plumber in Cinnaminson, NJ, has been removed and replaced with Dry Guy’s top of the line sump pump, the TripleSafe Sump Pump System.
