🐊Steel Beams (Power Braces)- The Upsides | Foundation Repair

A mini-series on steel beams (also known as i beams) for foundation repair in your basement. Are they a good idea? Are there any alternatives? What are the pros and cons? New videos every Sunday!

So as mentioned previously here at Dry Guys we use the Foundation Supportworks PowerBrace. Some of the advantages of the PowerBrace as mentioned is they are zinc coated so they do not rust. They are reinforced to your floor joist to distribute the weight evenly. They have the ability to straighten the wall over time. What that is reliant upon is your wet/dry cycle so when your soil that is pressing against your wall and causing it to crack and move inward, when it starts to dry out, it will actually shrink and move away from your wall, giving us the potential to straighten your wall. Not every wall can be straightened but we always will try and attempt to straighten it over time if need be, and you have the reliance and the assurance that no matter what your wall will not continue to move inward anymore. It will stop any inward movement- both shearing, bowing, anything that the wall can throw at it. They can be installed year-round, they are less invasive than a lot of other products that are out there and can typically be installed in one day. Finally, they come with a nationally backed 75 year warranty that you don't get with the other fixes that are out there and that warranty is structural and the warranty can be transferred if you ever decide to sell your home within that 75 years.
