ThermalDry Floor Matting System

ThermalDry Basement flooring being installedMold won’t grow on it. Water won’t ruin it. Water vapor won’t go through it. Since it is the only all-plastic basement subfloor in the world, ThermalDry Floor Matting System is the only choice for a basement carpeting project.

Each tile is a 12-inch square that interlocks with its neighbor with a shiplapped design. Since the tiles are only a half-inch thick, they won’t waste your precious basement ceiling height. The grid pattern underneath allows air to flow between the tiles and the concrete, so water vapor doesn’t condense under them as it often does if plastic is laid flat against the floor.

Basement SubflooringA ThermalDry subfloor should last as long as your house, so this is the last time anyone will have to install a subfloor in your basement. Installing carpet demands a good subfloor, and ThermalDry is up to the task. We recommend that tack strips are used, instead of glue, since then – many years from now – when you decide you want new carpet, you can keep on using the same subfloor.

Another major advantage of ThermalDry is temperature. On average, ThermalDry Floor Matting System will raise the surface temperature of a basement floor by 10 degrees. Since the flooring itself has a layer of air below (thanks to the grid pattern mentioned earlier) it is not in direct contact with the cold basement floor. This means your finished floor will be warmer – so summer condensation that forms on cold floors is eliminated. You can put carpet, tile or linoleum over a ThermalDry subfloor with confidence that it will be warm and dry so you can use it for a playroom, bedroom or office.
