Dry Guys Basement Systems Case Studies: Basement Waterproofing and Finishing in Deptford New Jersey
Challenge
After installing WaterGuard in this home years ago, the homeowner decided to put walls up that obstructed the waterproofing system. The lack of maintenance caused a buildup of iron ochre behind the wall, clogging the WaterGuard (Perimeter Waterproofing System) and causing seepage. Iron Ochre is a rust-colored thick bacteria found in drain and plumbing systems. The walls had to be removed to clean the WaterGuard system in order to stop water from entering the home. (Pictured) The challenge here was to develop a finished wall system that still allows access to the WaterGuard drainage for maintenance to avoid this problem from happening again.
Solution
The Dry Guys team developed a step system wall that will allow access to the WaterGuard for maintenance in order to prevent iron ochre buildup and still look great with wood trim and BrightWall wall paneling. The unit is equipped with a removable lid that is installed over the WaterGuard system. (Pictured) This feature makes it easy to maintain waterproofing and is very durable. This newly renovated space is now used for the homeowner’s daughter to play in.
